We supply and install concrete pavers in Darwin in a wide range of colours, sizes and patterns, so you can create a look that suits your home or business. Pavers are strong, slip-resistant and easy to maintain, making them ideal for the tropical climate.

Quality paving starts below the surface, so we focus on correct excavation, compacted base layers and precise levelling. Each paver is laid with tight joints and finished with proper edging and sand, giving a neat result that lasts. If a single paver cracks or sinks, it can simply be replaced. How we can help

Paving Work We Do Around Darwin

Paved Driveways

We handle your whole driveway from the front boundary to the garage, including excavation, road base and paver layout. We'll help you pick a size and colour that suits your home, whether it's an elevated tropical house, a post-Tracy brick home or a new build in Zuccoli or Muirhead.

Patios and Outdoor Living Areas

Want a shady spot out the back for meals, a barbecue and a few chairs? We plan your paved area around how you actually use the yard, link it to paths and garden beds, and leave room for planters or pergola footings later.

Pool Surrounds

Paving around your pool needs to stay comfortable under bare feet in the midday heat and keep its grip when wet. Light-coloured, textured pavers work well around tropical pools, and we finish the water's edge with matching bullnose coping.

Paths and Stepping Stones

We lay narrow paths between your front gate, side gate, clothesline and shed, using standard pavers or bigger stepping units set into lawn or gravel. They keep your feet out of the mud in the wet season and give your garden a neat, finished look.

Paver Cleaning and Resealing

Shady, humid corners in Darwin grow black mould, algae and lichen on pavers fast. We pressure clean your paving, treat the growth, top up the joint sand and apply a breathable sealer that helps your colours last longer under the harsh Top End sun.

Commercial and Strata Paving

We pave shop forecourts, unit complexes, body corporate common areas and resort paths. We stage the job so your residents or customers can still get through, and we choose pavers rated for the foot and vehicle traffic each area gets on its busiest days.

Starting Your Concrete Paver Project in Darwin: Three Simple Ways

With pavers, you've got lots of choice, from sharp modern greys to warm sandstone shades beside your pool. A bit of planning up front makes it much easier to settle your layout, levels and budget.

  • Draw us a quick plan: Mark your measurements, steps, garden beds and downpipes on a rough sketch, and we'll use it to work out quantities, cuts and falls.
  • Show us what you like: Send us pictures of paving that catches your eye, from Pinterest or a supplier catalogue, and we'll suggest products that cope well with Darwin's climate.
  • Book a site visit: We'll look at your ground, drainage and machine access, then explain your base and edging options in plain terms.

The secret to good paving is what's underneath. We compact your base thoroughly and set falls that send monsoon rain away from your house. The result is straight lines, snug joints and a surface that stays flat. Give us a call or send a message to chat about your ideas and book a free quote.

Why pavers

Why Pavers Work So Well in Darwin

They Move With the Ground

Got clayey or filled ground that swells in the wet and shrinks in the dry? A poured slab on that kind of soil can crack. Pavers simply shift a little and settle again, so they're a smart technical choice for your block.

Fix One, Not the Lot

If a paver chips or gets an oil stain, we lift it out and drop a new one in. With a slab, you're looking at cutting and patching, and you can usually see the repair afterwards.

Use It Straight Away

You don't wait for anything to cure. Once we've laid, jointed and compacted the pavers, you can walk and drive on them, which is ideal if you run a rental or a shop that can't close for a week.

Easy to Change Down the Track

Planning to widen the driveway, add a path or run a new pipe later? We just lift the pavers and put them back. There's no saw cutting, no jackhammer and no new concrete to pour.

Endless Ways to Style Your Yard

You can choose from all sorts of sizes, colours and layouts, from a tight herringbone to a relaxed stepping-stone look. That gives you far more design options than a plain slab ever could.

Permeable Options for the Wet

Permeable pavers let rainwater soak down through and between them rather than running off. That can take some pressure off your drains when a big wet-season storm hits.

How we lay them

How We Keep Your Pavers Level

A Base Built for How You'll Use It

Your garden path and your driveway need very different foundations. Where cars will park, we dig deeper and add more road base, compacting each layer with a plate compactor so your pavers hold their shape under weight.

Edges That Stay Put

Without a strong border, pavers slowly spread outwards until the joints open up and units start to rock. We lock every open edge with concrete haunching or fixed edging, a step some installers skip to save a few hours.

Falls Planned Before We Lay

Monsoon rain will pool on any flat spot. Before we lay a single paver, we string up levels so water flows to drains or garden beds, stopping the bedding sand washing away and the ground underneath going soft.

Joints Filled Properly

Pavers only lock together when the joints are full. We pick a jointing sand to suit your area, often a polymeric sand that firms up once wet, then vibrate it in and top it up so your pavers interlock and weeds find it harder to take hold.

Pavers Chosen for Each Spot

Driveway pavers need to be thicker, and pool pavers need to stay cool and non-slip under bare feet. We point you to products rated for the traffic in each area, not just the ones that look nice in a catalogue.

Honest Advice, Even If It's Not Pavers

Sometimes a slab is the better answer. If a heavy vehicle, caravan or machinery will sit in one spot for long stretches, poured concrete may serve you better, and we'll tell you so even if it changes what we quote.

Common questions

Concrete Paver FAQs

Your paving questions answered: pavers versus a slab, keeping weeds at bay, why pavers sink, carrying vehicles and how long a Darwin install takes.

It really depends on your block and how you'll use the space. Pavers win on ground that moves, because they shift slightly instead of cracking, which helps a lot on the clayey, filled or poorly drained soils you find in parts of Darwin. They also make sense where pipes or cables might need to be dug up later, where you need the area back fast, or where swapping one damaged paver would be handy. Poured concrete is usually better for heavy loads that sit still, for people who want one smooth surface with no joints to look after, and for big plain areas, where it generally costs less per square metre. We'll look at your site and recommend what suits.

Some will turn up over time, and it's the thing people ask us about most, but you can keep them under control. Most weeds grow in dirt, leaves and moss that gather in the joints, rather than coming up from the soil underneath, and shady, damp corners in the wet season are usually where you'll see them first. Keeping your joints full and firm and sweeping now and then helps a great deal. Polymeric sand, which sets hard after it gets wet, cuts weed growth noticeably compared with plain sand. No paving stays totally weed free, but good joints keep the maintenance easy.

Nearly always it's the base underneath. Pavers sit on a layer of sand over compacted road base or crushed rock. If that base wasn't compacted properly, or water has washed through it, it slowly settles with use and your pavers dip along with it. Soft clay or badly drained ground underneath makes base depth and drainage even more important. The good news is that fixing it is straightforward: we lift the sunken section, repair and recompact the base, relevel the sand and lay the same pavers back down. A sunken concrete slab, by contrast, usually has to be broken out and poured again.

Yes, as long as we choose the right pavers and build the right base. Driveway pavers are thicker than patio pavers, and the road base beneath them has to be deeper and better compacted to spread the weight of your wheels. Edging matters even more, because tyres push outwards at the edges, and on any slope a solid border stops the paving creeping downhill. The pattern counts as well: herringbone handles turning and braking much better than pavers laid in straight lines. If you'll be parking a caravan, boat trailer, work ute or delivery truck on it, tell us when we quote so we can plan for it.

On site, it's often about the same as a concrete driveway, sometimes a day or so longer, because laying pavers by hand takes more labour than pouring. The real difference is at the end: pavers don't need to cure, so you can drive on them as soon as the joints are compacted, rather than waiting about a week like fresh concrete. If you're a landlord or run a shop, getting the area back that quickly can be a big win. Heat affects paving less than pouring, though heavy wet-season rain can still hold up base work. A narrow side gate or a long carry from the street can add time, and we allow for that in your quoted timeline.
